Hammertoe Surgery San Diego

Dr. Jay Berenter, Foot & Ankle Surgeon at Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego California performs a hammertoe surgery – the most common surgery performed in the United States today. When performed correctly, it is a simple out-patient procedure with good predictable results. This video is an actual recent hammertoe surgery. Dr. Berenter explains that one of the important aspects of the procedure is the use of an absorbable pin. The pin prevents infections and recurrence of the deformity and makes the procedure essentially pain-free for most of the patients. For more information, contact:

This is amazing. I had two hammertoes – one on each foot. However, I had metal pins in my toes which stuck out at the end of each toe and I had them in for about six weeks – I cant remember the length of time – Afterwards had to have them pulled out at the surgery. Quite a traumatic experience I have to say ! Best op every though – also had a bunion removed on one foot a few years prior.
I had hammertoe n bunion surgery done recently by Dr. Berenter. I’m still recovering and doing very well. I highly recommend Dr. Berenter! He’s very professional, Funny, and down to earth! His staff is great too!
Thank you for your comments!
I had the same surgery recently im in recovery now i was definitely sleep watching what i went thru i could be awake for this
I just had this surgery today. Mine was partially dislocated at the metatarsal area as well. Pain is not too bad but the block is still working.
@Ronni you will be asleep. I had surgery to fix a hammer toe two years ago. I walked sooner than I should have so the bone didn’t come together like it should have. Had a second surgery and now have a screw in my toe, which will be taken out sometime this year.
R u awake.. How come no one will answer that question
Please call us our office for details.
Hi there, mind if I ask what your opinion is on this as of today?
Are you awake when this is happening?
Do you do any hammertoe corrections without the use of a pin? I never use a pin with any of my toe surgeries, including bunion surgery. I guess we were all trained differently.
Please contact our office for more information.
Scary!! I need hammer toe correction though
I’m having a bunionectomy and hammer toe repair in 2 days.
Is the patient sleeping during this procedure?
I am waiting for this.?
