In this video, Dr. Kenneth Hughes, Los Angeles plastic surgeon, has removed breast capsular tissue that had thickened and caused capsular contracture and breast distortion. Although Kenneth Hughes has performed many capsulectomies and acellular dermal matrices revisions with gummy bear implants, this is one of the few times that the patient wanted to share the journey with other patients.
This patient had a chronic fluid collection, which perhaps contributed to the capsular contracture. In addition, there was obvious distortion due to pocket dissection. The pocket was dissected differently after capsular contracture removal to allow for the most symmetry in the result.
